Ecofys experts selected for international climate work
04 August 2010 - Two Ecofys consultants have been appointed to work on the next IPCC’s major report on the state of knowledge on climate change. Dr. Niklas Höhne, Director Energy & Climate Policy, has been selected as Lead Author of chapter 13, titled “International Cooperation: Agreements and Instruments” of the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report on climate change. Dr. Monique Hoogwijk, Manager Energy Climate Policy, has been chosen as review editor for chapter 10, titled “Industry”.

100th edition of UK Trade and Investment newsletter
28 July 2010 - We are proud to announce that today we issue the 100th edition of the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) newsletter. The purpose of this newsletter is to support UKTI investment officers internationally in attracting foreign investors to the UK renewables market. The fortnightly newsletter on inward investment opportunities into the UK renewable energy sector has been published since 2006. Each edition of the newsletter covers international renewable energy investment market activity, R&D and selected projects as well as providing an in-depth focus on a renewable subsector, summarising technology and commercial development and news relevant to that subsector.

Climate Action Tracker Update:
No major movement towards lowering emissions before the UN climate talks in Bonn

Bonn: 29 July 2010 - Three days before the start of the next round of UN negotiations on climate change in Bonn, actions pledged globally on reductions of greenhouse gas emissions give virtually no chance to limit global mean temperature increase to below two degrees Celsius. That is the result of the latest analysis by the so-called ‘Climate Action Tracker’, an assessment system that shows how climate protection commitments by different countries would contribute to total greenhouse gas emission reductions globally and provides climate model projections that estimate the effect of the resulting global emission pathway on limiting global warming.

European Commission recognises the European Energy Award® as an effective tool
20 July 2010 - European Commission recognises the European Energy Award® as an effective tool for the Sustainable Energy Action Plans of the Covenant of Mayors. Ecofys has introduced the European Energy Award® in the Netherlands within the framework of the EU-project Balance. The first –and only- assessments of local energy policies and implementation programs have been implemented in the Netherlands for municipalities of Apeldoorn, Heerhugowaard and Etten-Leur.
